Abstract

One of the most effective ways to develop a basin model is to use geographic information systems (GIS), which are computer systems that allow collecting, storing, processing, analysing and visualising spatial data about a basin. The assessment of evapotranspiration parameters using GIS in land management is important for the rational use of water resources and effective land use planning. The developed digital terrain model using GIS allowed for the first time to model all the drainages that form the water balance of the Lukva River, to identify drainage zones and the river basin as a whole. A study of changes in the hydrodynamic balance of the Lukva River basin based on the evapotranspiration parameter was carried out, indicating an increase in evapotranspiration, which clearly resonates with global climate change.
